after his last ep on stil vor talent in 2009, born-and-bread berliner sascha braemer is now back with three fresh tracks for the spring of 2011. in the meantime, his funky minimal jump-up tech-house has led him to release on labels as prolific as kindisch or dirtybird. things kick off with >belle<, a ferocious attack on your groove muscles and dancing bones. this tune glides as softly as the wings of an angel while shaking you around like a giant would a dwarf. the up-beat groove is based on a great cut-up vocal sample and some animating synthesizer stabs. sweet! then, >felicitous<, which is considerably slower than the previous two tracks. still, the vocal on this one and the deep electronic body come together perfectly to form a deep and dirty suckerpunch to your euphoria synapses. last up is >people< keeps the effected vocal approach and that really makes this tune. imagine a super deep bassline, some wonderfully syncopated hi-hat trickles and a constant groove to underline the power of the vocal. this track is club pop - so deep and yet so magic it will run shivers down your spine on the breakdown. sascha braemer seems to have put all his experience of peak-time club moments to early morning afterhour visions into his own transcript of signature sound. this is not be mistaken, this is simply on-point

boundaryless ep fromnew producer, tessela, the first vinyl release for the west country (uk) producer. making some noise in the virtual world, this foray into vinyl is a mix of styles with the heavy emphasis on bass made all the more interesting by the pitched down vocals and synths. ravey but dubby, dark but fun, 3 tracks in all give a proper introduction to his developing sound.

fantastic and incredibly rare afro-disco album from 1978. originally released on the seminal french disco label barclay, this album seamlessly blends elements of african, afrobeat, funk and disco styles, with segments continually morphing and evolving into new tracks. irresistibly funky and percussive, this album’s drumming patterns and melodies grandually hypnotise the listener, with only outbreaks of african chanting breaking up the grooves. the b-side is effectively one long drum track broken down into 7 segments that never drop a beat. this album really takes the listener on a journey to africa, via 1978 new york, and is a real one of a kind. it’s also a samplers dream with no end of complex drum patterns and basslines to recycle.

lovefingers and nitedog return to their blackdisco label for the 10th release! straight up fun party jams for 4 different moments in the night. lovefingers starts off side a with the pumping macho disco america (cut from a freaky italian 45 and a stallions staple) and nitedogs anonstop project throws down the mid-tempo bassline bobber martial arts. on side b, lovefingers drops a funky/junky eastern guitar stomp on slim jim (another freaky 45, this time french), and nitedogs anonstop project closes out with a super funky warm burner. primates. all heat, no bullshit, and of course… no repress!

with its corroded, live recorded sound and relentless machinedrum, le coq is a trip to the shadowy, not to say drunk side of dance music. as an acid statement this track is right on the money without ever submitting to any ground rules of vintage acid. truly envelope-pushing electronic wizardry with a dark edge. stripped down to a bare minimum, the flip side hollywood goblin evokes the linear pulse of early body music, while the lead synthesizer adds a touch of cabaret voltairesque arpeggio magic. universal rejection was established in stockholm, sweden in 2011. the label is the collective effort of a closed circle of friends sharing the vision of a parallel universe trough raw, down to the core electronic dancemusic. every new release is a code. it represents a piece of what universal rejection is, and proves that the label will be in constant flux while at the same time always remaining true to itself.

vezelay is 30 year old matthieu le berre who is from clermont-ferrand in france and this six track e.p. of short dreamlike electropop is his debut release.
the >lyre e.p.< simply and beautifully mixes stripped down simple pop structures with a dreamlike quality featuring matthieus soft falsetto singing. the feeling is quite lo-fi and hazy and with repeated listens reveals an austere depth and complexity.

>positivenoise< is collaboration between system 7 and british house music legend a guy called gerald who now lives in berlin, and is one of two tracks on the new system 7 >up< album that they worked on together. the original club mixs exuberant sounds and crisp beats exude an infectious feel-good quality and a bright tech confidence inspired by berlins leaner sounds - already gaining plaudits and plays for its modern club sound. the carl craig remix strips down the original, and twists and turns for the dancefloor with dubby deep techno in carls own legendary style. a.mochis remix is a darker interpretation, with a long dropdown featuring shimmering s7 trademark sounds and a breakbeat build-up.

behind nomaton hides one of uppsalas true techno veterans. erik möller made himself a global name in the beginning of 2000 as the stripped down house musics champion with releases on labels including force tracks and sub static. he has played all over the world - from ibiza to tbilisi, and the audience at the legendary berlin clubs ostgut and watergate has been able to dance to his live sets. as unai his subtle technopop was hailed by all sorts of camps: from new york times to the wire, from house-djs to to pop connoisseurs. as he now comes forward with a new name, it is very much a return to roots. with nomaton he takes us on a trip to the dark heart of techno. a heavy-bass thumping heart full of dirty basslines, grinding rhythms and ecstatic minimalism.

cisco cisco reappears on the spanish label apersonal music with more nudisco quality from the portuguese duo. 2 original tracks, higher the perfect weapon for the techydisco lovers and brothers in arms freshing up the release with an enchanting laid-down groove. a solid offer that reaffirms the promising relationship between this rising artist and apersonal, under which they debuted last year. apersonal always has excellent offers on the remix department. so its no surprise to see names as greg wilson on their catalog, a producer regarded as one of the most important figures on the uk dance scene. remixing higher he gives a different edge and tempo to the ep, with a faster version for the higher times.

ahead of a shake it summer residency at amnesia in ibiza, alongside his dj/production partner layo, bushwacka releases his first solo ep of 2011 - the two-track west side / energy ep. westside - this monster is very personal to bushwacka! inspired from the sound of the biggest german techno dj on the planet, sven vath, and the musical magic he wove on the decks over the last ten years in ibiza, bushwacka! has drawn his feeling from this and countless memorable nights there and created a massive dancefloor weapon that has been tweaked and tested around the world. westside creates chaos and euphoria in equal measures and is pure peak time magic. energy is a very different breed of music, again influenced from parties, but this time his own - the morning sessions, the after hours, the dawn chorus - deep, sexy, melancholy, but tough and naughty - this is serious underground tech acid get down dirty music.

for all the wonderfully subtle shell-breaking he did on his full-length, mark e falls back on old, slow habits for his new single, >the day<. and welcomely, we might add. pitching things down to a basement lounge floor crawl, the midlands dj/producer wraps his always chugging kicks and snares in serpentine synth-bass, jazzy, tripleted hi-hats, and moaning, wordless soul vocals. its grasp is tantric—hinting coyly at ecstatic release, but never fully delivering. for the vinyl junkies that bought stone breaker and missed out on it the first time around (it was absent from that version), this release should be a no brainer. but >the day< isnt carrying all the weight here. a new track called >special fx< will have sample hounds—particularly those with a thing for classic electro-pop—salivating. and the oft imitated, never replicated prins thomas shows up on the flip for a (naturally) eleven- minute revamp of >the day<, livening up the bass and drum patterns, adding in strings, piano, guitar, organ, and ending up with something that totally could have emanated from a camaro at some point in the early seventies. (albeit, one owned by someone with interest in eleven-minute instrumentals.) it even has a fade out!

already in the forth installment, claap continues its streak of quality releases. this time label head gummihz is back with a breazy and grooving maxi titled >head rush<. featuring four new cuts welcoming the summer heat. >head rush< is a captivating piece reminiscent of that 90s ny house sound. it is a nod to the past with a touch of now. breezy and cool, with the sort of drums that will keep the floor pumping. the drums out mix is a more pumped out version of the original, stripped down to the drums and voices. >secret voyage< taps into a more ballearic atmosphere. a captivating arpeggio draws the frame to a very elegant arrangement of organic rhythmical elements. >ruff passage< is a dubbier cut which was created to remind you of previous house producers of the ruff, think everybody be somebody (ruffneck)!! a must have for all occasions to keep the heat on!!
